I recently purchased a new underwater camera that does RAW: Olympus TG4. What it also had was a macro setting. I could get within a few mm of an object to get very close-up shots. It was like opening a whole new world of small. There is so much detail that no one ever sees but with the macro it become real. I often take a photo and then look at the screen on the back of the camera and am surprised by what I can’t see with my bare eyes. The compositions are simple and elegant. I have been doing photography for a long time and just when you think you’ve done most everything, something new opens up. After doing the color lesson I started to think about what colors worked together to make for a better image. I grabbed some construction paper to set behind the macro to try to create a more striking image. My only regret with the Olympus is that it does not allow me to go completely manual which it advertised as being able to do--but only in a few settings, not macro or underwater which are the two things I use most.
